How the Ways Count Is Calculated

In a six-reel example with seven eligible symbol positions on each reel, the displayed maximum is 7 × 7 × 7 × 7 × 7 × 7 = 117,649 ways. A smaller arrangement of 2 × 3 × 4 × 5 × 6 × 7 gives 5,040 ways. These count paths through positions, not equally likely winning outcomes. Actual symbol frequencies, wild rules and payouts matter.

Many versions require matching symbols on consecutive reels starting at the left. The minimum match length and exceptions appear in the paytable. Scatters, extra horizontal reels and special symbols may be evaluated separately. Neither six reels nor 117,649 ways is a universal limit for every feature carrying the name.

Cascades and Multipliers

A cascade removes qualifying symbols and introduces replacements, potentially producing another payout within the same paid round. The rules determine whether replacements alter reel height and whether the sequence continues after each win. A cascade does not necessarily require another stake, but that does not make the original round free.

Multiplier behaviour is game-specific: it may increase during a feature, reset between spins or stop at a stated limit. A multiplier described as unlimited can still operate within a maximum total-win rule. Check what ends the feature and whether reaching a cap cancels remaining spins.

Ways, RTP and Volatility Measure Different Things

A larger grid does not establish a higher return to player or a better chance of a net win. RTP is a theoretical long-run average for the configured version; volatility describes variation in returns. Neither establishes how long an individual balance will last.
