Commission and No-Commission Baccarat: Payout Differences
“No commission” does not describe one universal baccarat ruleset. Some versions reduce the profit on a winning Banker 6; others return the Banker stake on a winning three-card 7. This comparison separates those settlements from the conventional 5% commission model.
How a 5% Banker Commission Works
Under a common commission ruleset, a winning Banker bet pays 0.95:1 in profit. A $100 stake therefore earns $95 profit, with the original $100 also returned. A winning Player bet normally pays 1:1, and a tied hand returns either main-bet stake. The Tie bet is separate.
Commission collection, rounding and minimum denominations can differ. A displayed payout may show profit alone or the total including the stake. Those conventions must be identified before comparing amounts.
The Banker-6 Half-Payout Rule
In a common commission-free version, most Banker wins pay 1:1, but a winning Banker total of 6 pays 0.5:1. On a $100 stake, that exception means $50 profit plus the returned $100 stake. It is a reduced win, not a push.
In a standard eight-deck calculation, the Banker house edge is approximately 1.46% under this particular half-payout rule, compared with approximately 1.06% under 5% commission. These figures describe the specified mathematical models. They do not apply to every game labelled “no commission.”
EZ Baccarat Uses a Different Exception
EZ Baccarat instead treats a winning three-card Banker total of 7 as a push for the main Banker bet: the stake is returned without profit. Other winning Banker hands pay 1:1. This is different from reducing the payout on a Banker 6. The exception concerns the main bet; separately staked side bets have their own settlements.
Worked Settlement Examples
For a $100 Banker stake that wins with a total of 6: the 5% commission model returns $195 including the stake; the half-payout-on-6 model returns $150; the described EZ model returns $200.
For a $100 Banker stake that wins with a three-card total of 7: the commission model returns $195; the half-payout-on-6 model returns $200; the described EZ model returns the $100 stake. Side Bets and Game Speed Are Separate Issues
A bet labelled “Super 6” may refer to an additional wager on a particular Banker-6 outcome. Its payout must be read from the actual side-bet rules; it is not the same as the main Banker bet’s half-payout exception. Single payout figures cannot establish its return without the qualifying event and probability.
Removing commission calculations does not guarantee faster rounds. Betting windows, card handling, animations and interface design also affect timing. More rounds per hour can increase the total amount staked without changing the mathematical return per stake.
Interpreting the Comparison
A lower house edge still represents a negative expected return, and an average does not predict one session. Past results do not make a payout model temporarily favourable. Neither a short session nor a change in staking sequence creates a guarantee of profit.
